Royce White Doubles Down on Controversial Remarks About Suburban Women Voters

Minnesota Republican Senate candidate Royce White is standing firm after his recent controversial comments, in which he labeled Republicans “losers” for trying to win over suburban women voters. White, a former NBA player, and outspoken conspiracy theorist, made the remarks on his “Please Call Me Crazy” podcast, where he criticized Republicans who seek the support of suburban women as “delusional” and accused them of “living in a cucked mentality.”

The term “cucked,” derived from “cuckolded,” is often used by far-right circles to insult those they perceive as weak or emasculated. White’s comments quickly drew attention, including a critique from MSNBC’s Ja’han Jones, who highlighted the inflammatory nature of his remarks.

Rather than back down, White took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday to defend his stance, even quoting Jones’ article, “Senate candidate Royce White says suburban women voters are for suckers.” White did not shy away from his previous statements, instead amplifying them.

“This headline is a prime example of yellow journalism… They think you’re stupid and yes the GOP better go to the inner cities and go after new voters to win this election,” White wrote. He added, “This isn’t rocket science! If suburban women understand inflation to be important, this isn’t even a contest. Only a cuck would say that’s demeaning, only a loser would dance around that reality. Hence, cucks and losers!”

White’s combative approach to social media is not new. He has previously faced ridicule for mistakenly posting a map that he claimed showed crime locations in Minneapolis, which was actually a map of public drinking fountains. Additionally, reports have surfaced that he spent campaign funds at a nude strip club in Florida, further fueling controversy around his candidacy.

Despite the backlash, White has maintained his momentum within the Minnesota GOP. He secured the party’s endorsement at the state convention earlier this year and won the primary with a 9-point lead over his closest rival, Joe Fraser. White is set to challenge Democratic incumbent Senator Amy Klobuchar in the upcoming November election. As the campaign continues, White’s provocative statements and actions are likely to keep him in the spotlight, for better or worse, as he vies for a seat in the U.S. Senate.
