The long-standing rift between Princes William and Harry, described as one of the most significant public disagreements within the royal family, might see a resolution, but Meghan Markle’s position could complicate matters, as suggested by a royal expert. The possibility of reconciliation comes against the backdrop of serious health concerns faced by King Charles and Princess Kate, which might serve as a catalyst for the brothers to mend their fractured relationship.

Speculation has been rife about Prince William and Kate extending a peace offering to the Sussexes, inviting them to visit the UK with their children Archie and Lilibet, as per reports by the Mirror. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams shared with The Sun that while current rumors remain unconfirmed, unexpected developments could emerge, potentially as soon as next week.

Fitzwilliams had previously speculated on the chances of a reunion coinciding with Prince Harry’s visit to the UK in May for the Invictus Games’ tenth anniversary. This visit would mark Harry’s first return to Britain following the announcement of Princess Kate undergoing preventative chemotherapy after an abdominal surgery in January.

Meghan has the say. There’s no doubt Harry wishes to convey he is a very devoted family man and will put them above everything else. Just like William. There could be something that surprises us all. You could have all the Sussexes over here, it’s perfectly possible a reunion could happen.

Fitzwilliams remarked to The Sun Online about the uncertainty surrounding the depth of communication between William and Harry during their brief interactions. He emphasized the profound emotional rift between them, labeling the feud as one of the most publicly visible royal conflicts.

The path to reconciliation, however, faces hurdles, particularly due to Meghan’s reluctance to visit Britain owing to her and Harry’s waning popularity. Fitzwilliams pointed out that Meghan’s actions over the past four years have significantly contributed to her unfavorable reception in the UK, which could lead to negative publicity should she decide to visit, especially considering the innocence of Archie and Lilibet in these matters.

Furthermore, Harry’s recent loss in a bid for more security in the UK could potentially serve as a pretext for Meghan to avoid the trip, although Fitzwilliams noted that security arrangements would likely be adequately managed by the UK to ensure their safety during the visit.

The royal commentator also suggested that Meghan might face intense criticism upon visiting, a consequence of her own actions, including the repercussions of the ‘Spare’ memoir and the associated interviews. Despite the potential for backlash, the decision for Meghan to visit remains open, with Fitzwilliams indicating that the couple’s eviction from Frogmore Cottage was justified given the circumstances surrounding their recent public disclosures.
