King Charles warned monarchy can’t survive without ‘younger blood
King Charles III, who pledged to streamline the monarchy shortly after ascending the British throne in September following his mother Queen Elizabeth’s passing, has received a stark warning about the vital need for “younger blood” to sustain the royal family.
The 74-year-old monarch’s approach to reducing the royal family’s scope has raised concerns that there may not be enough members of The Firm available to fulfill royal engagements, according to an inside source.
Prince William and his spouse, Kate Middleton, are the sole “senior” royals under the age of 50, making the infusion of “younger blood” crucial to connecting with a broader demographic of royal supporters.
The source explained, “To engage with the younger generation, we need individuals who belong to that demographic, and the only viable candidates are Beatrice and Eugenie.”
Princesses Beatrice, 35, and Eugenie, 33, the daughters of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, are poised to embark on a two-year Commonwealth tour, according to OK! magazine.
While not officially designated as working royals, the two princesses have previously undertaken engagements on behalf of the crown.
Prince William and Kate Middleton, both 41, have been shouldering a significant portion of the royal duties on behalf of King Charles. However, as parents to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, they will need to scale back their commitments, concentrating on their work during the children’s school holidays. This gap in royal engagements in the UK needs to be filled.
King Charles’ former butler, Grant Harrold, noted, “He has taken inspiration from Queen Elizabeth’s approach and has followed her example in terms of official engagements. There have been numerous changes in the gardens, as King Charles is an avid gardener.”
Nevertheless, some royal experts argue that King Charles III’s vision for a leaner monarchy requires an infusion of youthful energy to thrive. Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie could potentially play a role in fulfilling royal engagements alongside Kate and William.
Princess Anne, on the other hand, has cautioned against the idea of “trimming down” the monarchy, especially in the wake of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure (Megxit) and Prince Andrew’s controversies. She believes it may not be a prudent course of action.
