King Charles returns to London ahead of planned surgery

King Charles, the reigning monarch of Britain, has made his return to the bustling capital of London, leaving behind his residence in Sandringham. This move comes as part of his pre-planned preparations for an upcoming surgical procedure, as revealed by esteemed royal expert Rebecca English through her X (formerly Twitter) platform.

The reason behind King Charles’s return to London is a medical one, as he has been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate. Buckingham Palace had previously issued an official statement, sharing that the king had sought treatment for this common condition, which affects thousands of men annually. Fortunately, the prognosis for His Majesty is benign, and he is scheduled to undergo a corrective surgical procedure in the coming week.

An interesting detail noted by Rebecca English is the raising of the royal standard at Buckingham Palace. Traditionally, King Charles resides at Clarence House, and this choice to raise the standard at Buckingham Palace may signify his temporary presence in the city.

It is important to note that the diagnosis and decision to undergo surgery took place while King Charles was at his Scottish residence, Birkhall. Despite reports confirming the forthcoming hospital treatment, the specific date of the procedure during the current week remains undisclosed.

The same day that King Charles’ procedure was announced, Kensington Palace revealed that Kate Middleton had undergone a “planned abdominal surgery” that would require a hospital stay of up to two weeks followed by several months of further recovery at home.

Princess Kate’s health news was only revealed after her surgery took place and details were kept private. The Princess of Wales, 42, chose discretion, expressing a “desire to maintain as much normality” as possible for her young children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, according to her office.

However, King Charles’ announcement came ahead of his planned procedure and addressed the issue head-on.
