Kate Middleton urges Harry to “build bridges” with William: “A message would go a long way to break the ice”
The Duchess of Cambridge has had enough.
As a child, Prince Harry always seemed to be by his older brother Prince William‘s side as he celebrated his significant 40th birthday.
The brothers rarely interact with one another due to a royal rift and their separation by continents.
However, Kate Middleton is trying to make peace between the two men.
The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly contacted Prince Harry this week, asking him to patch things up on William’s birthday, according to Closer.
“She’s quietly sent a message that it would mean so much to William if his little brother made some type of contact on his special day,” a source told the publication.
“A message would go a long way to break the ice and help build bridges without anyone else in the way.”
The insider continued by saying that although the duchess is “heartbroken” over the status of William and Harry’s once-close relationship, she still has hope for the future and is an “eternal optimist.”
“It’s her firm belief that one day Harry will snap out of his trance and be his own man.
“If she can somehow get the boys to make peace – even temporarily – it would be the greatest birthday gift William could wish for.”
The well-known conflict between William and Harry started in 2016 when the latter began seeing Meghan Markle.
While the duke was smitten with the actress, it appears that William had some concerns about how quickly things were developing between the two. William reportedly confided in his younger brother once Meghan had returned to her native Canada.
According to The Sun, a well-placed source revealed: “William told his brother that they knew nothing about her background, her intentions, what she was really like.
“He just wanted to stress that becoming part of the Royal family is a massive undertaking and the pressure and scrutiny are unrelenting. Was Meghan the right one?”
Suffice to say, William’s reservations didn’t go down too well with Harry, who allegedly “went mental” in his defense of Meghan.
The same source claimed: “He accused his brother of trying to finish his romance before it had begun. The brothers’ relationship has not really recovered.”
From there, it seemed things only got frostier between the brothers, with the Duke of Sussex telling ITV in 2019 that he and the future king were “on different paths”.
