Prince Harry’s soon-to-be-released paperback edition of Spare could hint at lingering tensions within the Royal Family, according to royal observers. As the Duke of Sussex prepares for the release next month, speculation grows that he might use the opportunity to further address his strained relationships with King Charles and Prince William.

Royal expert Dr. Tessa Dunlop told the Mirror, “Those who suggest that this paperback release, with no additional material, is an olive branch, are sadly mistaken. New material can be conciliatory; Harry might have taken the lead and opened with a different prologue, fore-fronting his regret about how things turned out, and reiterating his good wishes for Kate and the King.”

However, the decision to refrain from adding any new content, according to Dunlop, reflects the ongoing “cold war” within the Royal Family. “That he has decided to stay shtum is indicative of the cold war which persists within the Royal Family. On the eve of his 40th birthday, there is little sign of a reconciliation. The uncomfortable stalemate persists. My hunch is that deep down Harry regrets some of what he has written, but like so many men, he is way too proud to admit it.”

Dunlop further suggested that continuing to air grievances could harm Harry’s public image, especially given the sensitive health issues affecting both his father, King Charles, and his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. “Too much whinging does his brand no favors, and with cancer impacting both his father and sister-in-law Kate, now is not the time to have another pop,” she added.

As the paperback release date approaches, all eyes will be on Prince Harry to see if the content will provide any new insights into the ongoing rift or if it will further deepen the divide within the Royal Family.
