Prince Harry and Meghan Honor Black History Month with Inspiring Message

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have shared a powerful message following King Charles’ decision to honor his daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, with a new royal role.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex marked Black History Month by releasing a joint statement on their website, Archewell, encouraging reflection and learning about historical figures who have shaped progress.
“At The Archewell Foundation, we celebrate the rich culture and contributions of those who have come before us throughout history,” their statement read.
They continued, “As we mark Black History Month, we encourage everyone to learn and reflect on the contributions of leaders, activists, and changemakers who have inspired progress.”
The couple emphasized the importance of acknowledging diverse histories, adding, “Taking the time to appreciate stories, art, history, and culture not only honors the communities that have built these spaces but also contribute to our collective well-being.”
Notably, their message came shortly after King Charles appointed Princess Kate as the new patron of Tŷ Hafan, a children’s hospice in Wales. The hospice helps families care for children with life-shortening conditions, ensuring they live fulfilling lives.
This role was previously held by King Charles himself when he was the Prince of Wales, making it a significant passing of responsibility to the Princess of Wales. While Harry and Meghan’s statement did not directly reference Kate’s new patronage, the timing of their announcement has drawn attention.
The Sussexes, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California, continue to focus on charitable efforts and advocacy work through their Archewell Foundation.
As King Charles and Princess Kate take on new roles within the monarchy, Harry and Meghan remain vocal about social issues, urging global audiences to engage in meaningful discussions about history and cultural contributions.
