Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) has strongly denied reports that President Donald Trump screamed at her and called her a “fake Republican” after she initially voted against a budget plan he supported. According to a Puck report on Wednesday, Trump personally called Spartz during a House floor vote on Tuesday.
“Spartz, sitting in the Republican cloakroom, took the call, and others could clearly hear the president’s voice screaming out of the speaker,” the report stated. “She was a fake Republican derailing his agenda, he yelled. He was the president, he reminded her.”

Following the call, Spartz changed her vote to align with Trump’s stance. However, in a Thursday social media post on X, Spartz refuted the claim that Trump had yelled at her but did not deny that his call influenced her decision.
“Unbelievable how corrupt and low media reporting has become [sic] – they do not even bother anymore to inquire and spin lies with anonymous sources,” Spartz wrote. “I was not planning to comment on the blatant lies from the fake media but started to get inquiries from even more reputable outlets.
I just cannot believe how low our level of journalism has become [sic].” Spartz characterized Trump as a “strong man” but insisted their conversation was civil. “I do not recall him ever raising his voice with me,” she said. “We always have very thoughtful and meaningful discussions. He is my only hope to get things done!”

The congresswoman further dismissed the reports as false, calling them a “crazy blatant lie.” “Crazy blatant lie! What a sham!” Spartz declared in her statement on Thursday.
The exchange highlights the growing tension between Trump and some Republican lawmakers as he pushes his legislative priorities. While some GOP members resist his influence, others, like Spartz, reaffirm their loyalty despite conflicting reports of internal disagreements.
