Comparing his efforts to his days as a federal prosecutor, Giuliani vowed to take the same approach he used to dismantle Mafia organizations.
“If you’re behind” election fraud, Giuliani declared to the crowd on Wednesday, “I’ll find you.” He added, “I did it to the Mafia, I’ll do it to you.” Giuliani’s claims were part of a broader set of allegations that the 2020 presidential election was rigged, accusations that remain unfounded. As CNN’s Alayna Treene noted, Giuliani’s assertions have been widely debunked, with no credible evidence to support the claim of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election, told Raw Story.
Despite his current legal woes, Giuliani has been one of Trump’s most vocal advocates in promoting baseless claims of a stolen election. He played a key role in several failed lawsuits aimed at overturning the 2020 results and participated in strategy meetings with Trump on preventing election certification. His involvement in the infamous Four Seasons Total Landscaping press conference further cemented his place in Trump’s post-election efforts.
However, Giuliani’s persistent claims have led to significant legal consequences. He faces criminal charges in Georgia and Arizona for his attempts to interfere in the 2020 election results. Additionally, he was found liable in a $150 million defamation case after falsely accusing two Atlanta election workers of ballot tampering.
In an attempt to stave off financial ruin, Giuliani recently sought bankruptcy protection. The former New York City mayor, who has compared his financial struggles to the victims of Japanese internment camps during World War II, was denied bankruptcy protection by a federal judge after repeatedly failing to meet deadlines to disclose information about his assets.
