Pruitt, whose non-disclosure agreement recently expired, disclosed the disturbing information, suggesting that Trump’s behavior on set included racist remarks.
According to Pruitt, during discussions about the potential winners of “The Apprentice,” Trump questioned whether America would accept a Black winner, allegedly stating, “Would America buy a n—-r winning?” This bombshell accusation was published by Slate on Thursday and has reignited conversations about Trump’s racial attitudes.
The report has led to grim predictions on social media about the political implications of such a revelation. Some users, like Alex Cole, believe that the release of such a recording would not diminish Trump’s support; rather, it could reinforce the loyalty of his base due to shared prejudiced views. “His base loves him because he’s a racist,” Cole remarked.
Others, like Darren Kaplan on X (formerly Twitter), anticipate that this could normalize the use of racist language among the far right. Kaplan suggested, “Trump on tape using the N-word will only make him more popular with his base. Prepare for the word along with every other ethnic slur to return to common usage as white Americans ‘refuse to be censored by the woke mob.'”
The potential existence of a recording where Trump uses the N-word has been a topic of speculation before. Both Tom Arnold and Omarosa Manigault Newman, a former “Apprentice” contestant and Trump’s ex-aide, claimed in 2018 that such tapes exist. However, Trump has vehemently denied these allegations, asserting on social media that Omarosa had fabricated the claims. “There are NO TAPES of the Apprentice where I used such a terrible and disgusting word as attributed by Wacky and Deranged Omarosa,” Trump tweeted. “She made it up.”
