‘The View’ Hosts Rip Trump’s ‘King’ Proclamation as Distraction from Government Firings

(The View)
The co-hosts of The View debated President Donald Trump’s latest declaration—made Wednesday on Truth Social—that he is a king, dismissing it as a diversion from more pressing issues, including the firing of nuclear weapons experts and those handling the bird flu crisis.
During Thursday’s episode, long-time Republican strategist and Never Trumper Ana Navarro ridiculed Trump’s assertion, joking that Elon Musk appears more like a king while Trump plays the role of a court jester.

“Look, I think what he did with this—calling himself king—is he’s trolling the opposition,” Navarro argued. “He is distracting us, distracting the media so that we don’t talk about the nuclear scientists who were accidentally fired. So we don’t talk about the bird flu experts that were accidentally fired. So that we don’t talk about the 9/11 survivors who are going to lose their benefits.
So that we don’t talk about the price of eggs that has gone through the roof, that he promised to slash on day one.” Navarro also highlighted a tragic incident involving an 11-year-old Texas girl who took her own life after being bullied by classmates claiming Trump would deport her parents.
Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former Trump White House communications director, predicted that Trump’s antics would soon backfire, noting that approval ratings already reflect growing discontent. Joy Behar interjected, directing criticism at congressional Republicans: “And I would question the Republicans in Congress.”

“Susan Collins!” added co-host Sara Haines, singling out the Maine senator. “Step up and do your job and stop kissing his butt!” Behar concluded emphatically.
The discussion underscored growing concerns among critics that Trump’s statements serve as political smokescreens, shifting focus away from substantial policy failures and governance issues. With approval ratings in flux and pressure mounting, the panel predicted that Republicans in Congress might soon face a reckoning over their continued allegiance to Trump.
