Steve Bannon Says History Will Remember Trump Alongside Washington and Lincoln
MAGA influencer Steve Bannon declared that President-elect Donald Trump would overshadow billionaires like Elon Musk and other notable figures in the annals of history. Speaking on ABC’s This Week on Sunday, Bannon emphasized Trump’s significance, contrasting it with the fleeting relevance of other prominent individuals.
“When history is written, Elon Musk, Steve Bannon, Tucker Carlson, Jonathan Karl will all be washed away and forgotten in the footnotes,” Bannon insisted. “They’ll know two things: Trump and the MAGA movement.” Bannon also took the opportunity to critique the confirmation hearings for Trump’s defense secretary nominee, Pete Hegseth.
“I was shocked at the lack of hard questions for Pete Hegseth,” he said, expressing surprise at what he perceived as leniency in the process. Turning to the broader political landscape, Bannon predicted a shift in American politics.
“I think I saw the end of both the Democratic Party as it exists and the husk of the Republican Party as [Mitch] McConnell and Paul Ryan hope,” he remarked, referring to traditional Republican leaders who have often been at odds with Trump’s brand of conservatism.
Acknowledging the challenges Trump faces, Bannon pointed out the difficulty of uniting disparate factions within the political and economic spectrum. “Trump has the difficult job of unifying ‘the oligarchs’ and the working class,” he explained.
Bannon concluded by comparing Trump to historical giants such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, claiming Trump’s legacy would be equally enduring. “That’s why he is at the level of Washington and Lincoln,” he said. “This will be known.”
Bannon’s comments reflect the deep conviction within the MAGA movement that Trump’s presidency represents a historic turning point in American politics. As Trump prepares to take office, such bold statements underscore the high expectations his supporters have for his leadership and legacy.
