Unsurprisingly, crime rates in San Francisco have escalated to a point where staff at the Nancy Pelosi Federal Building are advised to telecommute. This level of crime is even disrupting Federal Government operations in the city.
This rise in crime, including drug use, raises questions. Even if some drugs are considered legal on a state level, their status remains illegal federally until addressed on a national scale. Why isn’t the DEA intervening more?

The imposing, 18-story tower on the corner of Seventh and Mission streets houses various federal agencies, including HHS, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Transportation and the office of Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi. The area is also home to one of the city’s most brazen open-air drug markets, where dozens of dealers and users congregate on a daily basis.
San Francisco boasts a pleasant climate and numerous amenities. Given its potential to thrive, it’s perplexing to witness its decline – a situation that appears to be a conscious decision by those in charge.
I’m going to be a whistle blower about this building. I was a bike messenger 15 years ago I would drop package inside. I would walk around and it was a ghost office I couldn’t find a single person and I was told to place a package in an empty cubicle. This place has been empty for a long time.
Comparatively, Governor Newsom’s assertion that California is better managed than states like Florida is genuinely surprising to many.
