Melania Trump Gives Rare Glimpse into Life with Donald, Talks New Memoir on Fox News’ ‘The Five’
In a rare television appearance on Fox News’ The Five on Tuesday, former First Lady Melania Trump shared insights about her new memoir and gave an unexpectedly intimate glimpse into her husband, Donald Trump, nightly routine. Known for her reserved public persona, Melania offered a candid moment when asked about her husband’s sleeping habits.
During the interview, host Greg Gutfeld asked Melania if the 78-year-old former president ever gets enough rest. “He doesn’t sleep much. He does of course,” she responded with a smile. Gutfeld pressed further, asking, “Does he wear pajamas?” Laughing, Melania answered, “No,” leaving the audience intrigued.
When Gutfeld continued to probe, she playfully made a zip-the-lips gesture, drawing more laughter and maintaining an air of mystery. Melania then shifted the focus to her upcoming book titled Melania, a memoir set to explore her life and relationship with Donald Trump. Fellow host Jesse Watters smoothly pivoted the conversation to the couple’s early days. “One of the things she covers in the book, Greg, since I’ve read it and you haven’t, is their first date and how he courted her,” Watters said.
“That courtship is something special.” In her 256-page book, which Vanity Fair described as “platitude-ridden,” Melania recounts how she met Trump at a New York Fashion Week party in 1998. “From the moment our conversation began, I was captivated by his charm and easygoing nature,” she writes, noting how he flirted with her despite being accompanied by another woman.
When the hosts asked if there was something nice about Donald Trump that the public might not know, Melania responded that her book contains some “cute, nice stories.” She elaborated, “He’s very warm. He’s fun. He has a great personality. And all he wants—he’s very passionate about this country—all he wants is to make this country safe, so everybody has a job and enjoys family life.”
She also emphasized her husband’s approach to fairness, saying, “He treats everybody equally. Man or woman. He could be tough on a woman. He could be tough on a man.” As Donald Trump campaigns for a third run at the White House, Melania has mostly stayed out of the public eye, making this appearance a rare exception. In anticipation of her memoir’s release, she has slowly started engaging with the media again.
Melania also shared a personal update on their 18-year-old son, Barron Trump, who recently started his freshman year at New York University. “He’s doing great. He loves his classes and his professors. He’s doing well. He’s driving, and he’s enjoying being in New York City again,” she said, offering a glimpse into their family life as she reconnects with the public in support of her book.
