YouTube Flags Laura Loomer’s Channel for Violating Policy, But Only One Video Affected

Far-right activist and self-proclaimed “proud Islamophobe” Laura Loomer took to social media on Thursday, alleging that YouTube had censored her video channel due to potential violations of its “violent criminal organizations policy.” Loomer, an outspoken supporter of former President Donald Trump, claimed the platform had made all her videos private because of her pro-Trump content.
“They have put a strike on my channel and made all of my videos private because they say my content, which is simply pro-Trump content, violates their ‘violent criminal organizations policy,'” Loomer wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “This is outrageous election interference.”
However, a YouTube spokesperson clarified the situation, telling Raw Story that only one video had been set to private. The video in question contained footage of Nasim Najafi Aghdam, the perpetrator of a 2018 shooting at YouTube’s headquarters. “No penalty was applied to the channel, and no other videos are affected,” the spokesperson added, disputing Loomer’s claim that her entire channel had been restricted.
The screenshot Loomer shared on X suggested not all her videos were made private, as the message she posted cuts off after the first paragraph. “Our team has reviewed your content,” the email reads. “We think you may need to make changes to make sure it doesn’t violate our violent criminal organizations’ policy. In the meantime, we’ve made the following content private.”
Loomer, who has a history of making inflammatory statements and promoting conspiracy theories, has been banned from various platforms in the past. Her previous commentary has included promoting 9/11 conspiracy theories and making offensive remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris. Loomer has also been blocked from Facebook, Instagram, and Uber for making derogatory comments about Muslim drivers, according to a report by BBC News.
Loomer’s continued support of Trump and her presence in his entourage has sparked controversy within the Republican Party. Last month, Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) criticized her on X, calling her a “crazy conspiracy theorist” whose divisive rhetoric harms Trump’s re-election chances. “A DNC plant couldn’t do a better job than she is doing to hurt President Trump’s chances of winning re-election. Enough,” Tillis wrote.
While Loomer continues to claim censorship and election interference, YouTube’s actions appear limited to a single video related to a past tragedy. Her history of inflammatory remarks, however, remains a point of contention, both within social media platforms and her own political circles.
