Kamala Harris Dismisses Trump’s Racial Attack with Four Words: ‘Same Old Tired Playbook’

In her first sit-down interview as a Democratic presidential candidate, Kamala Harris swiftly and decisively responded to a racially charged attack from Republican nominee Donald Trump. The exchange highlighted Harris’ refusal to engage with what she described as a predictable tactic from her opponent.

Last month, during a convention with the National Association of Black Journalists, Trump made a controversial remark about Harris’ racial identity. He told the audience, “I did not know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. Is she Indian or is she Black?”

When shown the clip of Trump’s comments during her interview with CNN, Harris responded with just four words, dismissing the attack as part of a familiar strategy. “Same old tired playbook,” she said, before laughing and adding, “Next question, please.” CNN anchor Dana Bash, seemingly surprised by the brevity of Harris’ response, asked, “That’s it?” Harris simply replied, “That’s it.”

The brief but pointed exchange underscored Harris’ intent to focus on more substantive issues, rather than getting drawn into what she sees as divisive rhetoric. Her response quickly resonated with supporters, reinforcing her commitment to rising above personal attacks during the campaign.

Harris’s refusal to engage with Trump’s comments further highlights the stark contrast between the two candidates’ approaches as they vie for the presidency. By brushing off the remarks with humor and a clear message, Harris signaled her determination to stay focused on the larger issues at hand, rather than being sidetracked by what she called the “same old tired playbook.”
