Jill Biden’s Ex-Husband Claims She Lied About Affair with Joe Biden in the 1970s

Jill Biden’s ex-husband, Bill Stevenson, has stirred controversy by accusing the first lady of lying about how she and Joe Biden met in the 1970s and claiming she had an affair with the now-president during their marriage. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Stevenson labeled Joe Biden a “home wrecker” and disputed the romantic narrative that the Bidens met on a blind date.

Stevenson, who was married to Jill in the early 1970s, recounted that the couple grew close to Joe Biden while working on his first Senate campaign in 1972. That same year, Biden tragically lost his first wife, Neilia, and their young daughter in a car accident. According to Stevenson, their relationship with Joe Biden took a personal turn that disrupted his marriage.

Stevenson revealed plans for a tell-all book, though he didn’t provide a title, and made it clear his intention wasn’t to harm Jill. “I don’t want to hurt anyone,” he said. “But facts are facts and what happened, happened.” He added, “I genuinely don’t want to harm Jill’s chances of becoming First Lady. She would make an excellent First Lady — but this is my story.”

The book, Stevenson noted, would cover his life and include details about his marriage to Jill. “People ask me how I can go back 40 years, but I am not, I’m going back 72 years to tell my life story,” he said, explaining that Jill’s role would be covered in about 80 of the 300 pages.

Stevenson claimed he first suspected an affair when Jill declined to join him on a trip to meet Bruce Springsteen, saying she had to look after Joe’s children, Beau and Hunter. A friend later confided in Stevenson that Joe and Jill seemed “a little too close,” which further fueled his suspicions.

One of Stevenson’s more startling revelations came when he recounted a conversation about a car accident involving his brown Corvette. A man claimed that his bumper had been hit and that “Senator Biden was driving” the car at the time, raising further questions for Stevenson.

Despite these claims, Stevenson expressed no bitterness. “I considered Joe a friend,” he said, adding, “I’m not surprised he fell in love with Jill. Everyone who meets Jill falls in love with her immediately. It’s hard not to.” As Jill Biden serves as First Lady, the controversy surrounding the early days of her relationship with Joe continues to resurface, but she and the president have largely remained silent on these claims.
