Ivanka Trump says she will not be involved in Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign

Ivanka Trump has opted to leave US politics and not actively participate in her father’s campaign to win the White House in 2024, citing the need “to prioritize my young children and the private life we are developing as a family.”

On Tuesday night, Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination in 2024 at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Members of his family were present, including his wife, Melania, and son Eric. Jared Kushner, Ivanka’s husband, was also present. However, Ivanka was not.

In a statement, Ivanka Trump said: “I love my father very much. This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics.”

She added: “While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena. I am grateful to have had the honor of serving the American people and will always be proud of many of our administration’s accomplishments.”

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner played major positions in Trump’s administration and were lightning rods for outrage over many of its excesses, in part because of their previous life as mainstays of Manhattan’s elite social scene, which is heavily Democratic.

Ivanka Trump and her family have relocated to an upscale estate in Florida since Donald Trump’s loss to Joe Biden in 2020.

She recently appeared before the January 6 committee, a special congressional panel looking into the 2021 insurgency at the US Capitol in which Trump‘s extremist followers sought to overturn his electoral result.

Ivanka Trump was with her father at the White House that day and is one of over 800 witnesses examined by the committee. The committee’s chairman, Congressman Bennie Thompson, hailed her evidence as “useful” rather than “chatty.”
