“He’s a Joke”: Chris Matthews Urges Kamala Harris to Stay on the Offensive Against Trump

During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” former NBC host Chris Matthews shared his insights on Vice President Kamala Harris’s strategy now that her path to facing Donald Trump in November’s election seems clear.

Speaking with fill-in hosts Jonathan Lemire and Katty Kay, Matthews emphasized that Harris and her yet-to-be-named running mate should keep up their attacks, noting that Trump is already on the defensive due to his questionable choice of running mate. Matthews pointed out that Trump made a critical error by listening to his sons, Don Jr., and Eric, regarding the selection of Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH).

The Trump campaign has been busy dealing with backlash from Vance’s previous statements, including disparaging “childless cat ladies” and labeling people without children as “sociopaths.” Matthews argued that these controversies have damaged Trump’s campaign, as per reports Raw Story.

Addressing Vance’s selection as the GOP vice-presidential candidate, Matthews declared, “He’s a joke. He’s a joke and now everybody knows it.”

Matthews elaborated, “The two Trump kids who picked him, apparently must be embarrassed they told their dad to pick this guy. They should have picked [North Dakota Gov. Doug] Burgum. That would have made Trump the business guy and the energy guy, and it would have made sense. Instead, they made a mistake by listening to their kids.”

As the election approaches, Matthews’s advice underscores the importance of strategic choices and the impact of campaign dynamics. Harris, with a strong offensive strategy, could capitalize on the missteps of the Trump campaign, particularly the controversial choice of Vance as a running mate.
