A small private plane inadvertently entered restricted airspace near President Joe Biden’s Delaware vacation home Saturday, leading the president and first wife to be temporarily removed, according to the White House and the Secret Service.

The White House stated that there was no danger to Biden or his family and that preventive measures had been taken. Biden and his wife, Jill, returned to their Rehoboth Beach home after the situation was assessed, according to Headline USA.

A witness said he saw “two military-style jets scramble” to intercept it. She also called the private plane a “little white plane.”

According to the Secret Service, the plane was immediately escorted out of the restricted airspace after “mistakenly entering a secured area.”

According to preliminary investigation, the pilot was not on the right radio channel and was not following published flying guidance, therefore the agency said it will interrogate him.

Prior to Biden’s visit to the beach resort, the Federal Aviation Administration issued flight restrictions, as is customary for presidential excursions outside of Washington. The restrictions include a no-fly zone with a 10-mile radius contained within a 30-mile restricted zone.

On Twitter, a CBS News report stated that he observed Biden’s motorcade to a Rehoboth Beach fire station seven minutes after witnessing the private plane and military reaction. The president’s crew of reporters was not part of the motorcade.

They arrived home a little more than an hour later.

Before taking off, pilots are required by federal regulations to check for flying restrictions along their route. Accidental airspace breaches still occur, particularly near temporarily restricted zones.

Military jets and Coast Guard helicopters from the United States are frequently employed to intercept any planes that breach the flight limits around the president.

Intercepted planes are diverted to a nearby airfield, where aircrews are interviewed and may face criminal or civil penalties.
