Alabama State Rep. Tracy Estes Faces Protective Order Over Alleged Violent Threats

An Alabama state representative, Tracy Estes (R-Winfield), had a protective order filed against him on Friday after allegedly making violent threats. The petition for protection from abuse, filed in the Circuit Court of Marion County, claims Estes verbally threatened the petitioner for two hours. The individual involved expressed fear of serious harm, stating that Estes made explicit threats to hurt her.

Efforts to reach Estes were made via a contact number listed in his campaign filings, but no attorneys for either party were listed in the online records as of early Saturday afternoon. In response to the situation, Alabama House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter (R-Rainsville) issued a statement, expressing confidence in the legal process, according to Ballotpedia.

“Alabamians deserve the very best from their elected officials, and it’s my expectation that House members are beyond reproach in both their professional and personal lives,” Ledbetter said. He further added that he trusts the justice system to “determine an appropriate course of action.”

Estes has served as a member of the Alabama House of Representatives since 2018 and was re-elected in 2022. Prior to his tenure in the state legislature, he was a member of the Marion County Board of Education. The allegations against him are a significant blow to his public image, especially given his long-standing involvement in public service.

The case remains ongoing, and further details regarding the protective order and any legal proceedings are yet to be revealed.
