A man suspected of a brutal murder at the upscale Shou Sugi Ban House in the Hamptons was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Pennsylvania, authorities reported. Thomas Gannon, 56, was identified as the primary suspect in the murder of 33-year-old Sabina Rosas, who was discovered dead in a guest room at the luxurious wellness retreat in Water Mill, New York.

According to Suffolk County Police, Gannon was found at his home in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, roughly 200 miles from the Hamptons property where the tragic incident occurred. Officials confirmed that Gannon and Rosas, known to her loved ones as Sabina Khorramdel, were acquainted, describing their relationship as “domestic in nature.” However, they did not elaborate further on the specifics.

Rosas’s family expressed their sorrow and frustration in a statement following Gannon’s death, voicing their sense of loss and longing for answers. “While we are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life, we also feel a profound sense of injustice,” the family said to NBC News. “Sabina deserves justice, and we were seeking accountability for her death. The loss of the suspect means we will never hear the truth about what happened to her. This outcome has robbed us of the opportunity to find closure through the legal process.”

Rosas is survived by her fiancée, parents, and estranged husband. An employee at Shou Sugi Ban House discovered her body on Monday afternoon. In a statement, Southampton Police described the killing as an “isolated incident” with no ongoing threat to the public.

The Shou Sugi Ban House, a secluded resort in the Hamptons, markets itself as a sanctuary of luxury and tranquility inspired by Japanese aesthetics and wellness principles. The retreat offers a holistic approach to relaxation and healing, incorporating spa services, nutrition, fitness, and wellness programs in a setting that celebrates natural beauty. The resort’s website describes it as “discreetly luxurious” and “grounded in sustainability and a deep love for raw natural beauty.”

Representatives from Shou Sugi Ban House have yet to comment on the incident, and police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to Rosas’s death. Gannon’s death, however, means the details surrounding the tragic events may remain unanswered, leaving Rosas’s family to seek closure without a trial or formal resolution.

As the community comes to terms with the shocking event, Rosas’s family is left to mourn the loss of their loved one, navigating both their grief and the unanswered questions surrounding her death. This tragedy has raised awareness of the complexities of domestic violence and the impact on families when justice remains incomplete.
