Texas Mom’s Terrifying Rage Beats Kids with Dog Leash and Threatens to Set Them on Fire Over Dropped Tissue

Ebony Gonzalez (Harris County Jail).
A Katy woman was arrested and charged with multiple felony counts of child abuse after one of her children slipped a desperate note to a friend, pleading for the police to be called. On Thursday, 30-year-old Ebony Gonzalez appeared before a judge as the charges against her were formally read.
“Ma’am, you’re charged with the four counts of felony offense of injury to a child,” the judge announced in court. According to court records, Gonzalez is accused of severely abusing her four children—two 11-year-olds, an 8-year-old, and a 6-year-old.

The investigation began when one of the children secretly passed a friend a handwritten note, asking them to contact the authorities. The message detailed a pattern of horrific abuse, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement, told ABC13 Houston.
Authorities say the abuse escalated after Gonzalez found tissue on the floor of their home. When none of the children admitted to leaving it there, she allegedly lashed out in a violent rage. “The defendant beat her four children with a dog leash, turned on the stove, and threatened to burn their hair,” the judge recounted from the court documents.
When officers arrived at the home, they documented visible signs of abuse on the children. “The officers noted red welts and bruises on two of the children’s upper backs, a third said the defendant pulled her hair and kicked her, and a fourth child did not want to talk but mentioned having visible marks,” the judge continued.
The distressing discovery led to Gonzalez’s immediate arrest, and she remains behind bars as the legal proceedings unfold. In an effort to learn more about the case, ABC13 attempted to reach Gonzalez at her residence on Friday. Though no one answered the door, a neighbor who spoke off-camera expressed shock, stating they had never witnessed any concerning behavior from Gonzalez before.

Authorities say the brave act of one child reaching out for help played a crucial role in bringing the situation to light. The children have since been placed in protective custody as investigations continue.
Cases like this highlight the importance of vigilance in communities and the necessity of intervention when children show signs of distress. If convicted, Gonzalez could face severe legal consequences, with child advocacy groups emphasizing that such incidents serve as a stark reminder of the need to protect vulnerable children.
