Tragic Accident Claims the Life of Beloved Mother After Suicidal Man Jumps Onto Her Car

Margarita Novela Galindo, a cherished mother and grandmother, tragically lost her life after a man attempting to end his own life jumped from a freeway bridge onto her car in Los Angeles. The incident occurred on August 9, as Margarita and her husband Florencio were traveling on the 210 Freeway when the man plunged from the Roxford overpass, crashing through their windshield.
Emergency responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department were alerted to the scene following reports of a person threatening to jump from the bridge. Despite the devastating impact, Florencio miraculously escaped serious injury and immediately called their son, David, in a state of panic. “Once he told me ambulances were on the way and he pulled over to the side and couldn’t open the doors, that’s when I knew it was serious,” David recounted.
Margarita did not die at the scene but was left in critical condition in the ICU for nearly three weeks before succumbing to her injuries on August 28, as reported by ABC7 Eyewitness News. The family is struggling to come to terms with the tragic loss, with David reflecting on the unfortunate timing of the incident: “What if she stopped to get gas? What if she stopped to get water? This probably wouldn’t have happened.” Her daughter, Stephanie Galindo, added, “It could’ve just been two seconds off, two inches away, my mom would’ve been fine.”
Despite the unimaginable loss, the family expressed no resentment towards the man who caused Margarita’s death. Florencio, in a show of compassion, said, “He doesn’t know what problems he may have had to commit suicide, but he doesn’t have any resentment.”
To help cover the costs of Margarita’s funeral and support the grieving family, a GoFundMe page has been launched. The page reads: “On August 9th, my parents were driving on the freeway when a man, in a desperate attempt to end his own life, jumped from an overpass and struck their vehicle. The impact was so severe that he crashed through the windshield and landed on my mom, leaving her in critical condition.
“She fought bravely for nearly three weeks, but on August 28th, the doctors told us that she wouldn’t recover. Tragically, my mom passed away, leaving behind me, my brother, my sister, and her seven grandchildren. My dad is now alone without the love of his life, told KTLA.
“It’s incredibly unfair that her life was taken because someone else didn’t want theirs. My mom was a loving and caring person, and our family is heartbroken and struggling to cope with this unimaginable loss. We’ve been by her side throughout this ordeal, and now we’re asking for any support to help us give her the farewell she deserves.”
