A 32-year-old Milwaukee man, Gerardo Jimenez-Rico, allegedly shot and killed his sister and injured both parents during a heated argument over household chores on January 22. The tragic incident unfolded after Jimenez-Rico’s father asked him to move out, escalating tensions in the family home.

According to Milwaukee County court records, Jimenez-Rico faces charges of homicide and two counts of attempted homicide. After the shooting, he walked to a local police station and confessed to the crimes. He told officers that his 22-year-old sister, Jocelyn Jimenez, had repeatedly mocked his financial struggles, and he “was just fed up.”

Jimenez-Rico admitted to shooting his sister, father, and mother, though he claimed the shooting of his mother was unintentional and could not explain why he did it. The family had recently returned from a trip to Mexico when the argument over dirty dishes erupted between Jimenez-Rico, his father, and Jocelyn.

The dispute reached a breaking point when his father demanded that he leave the house. In a fit of rage, Jimenez-Rico retrieved a gun and shot his father first. His sister, Jocelyn, reportedly grabbed a knife in self-defense but was also shot. Their mother was injured in the altercation as well.

Police responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting at a home on 40th Street and Cheyenne Street. Officers found three adults with gunshot wounds. While the parents survived their injuries, Jocelyn was pronounced dead at the scene. She leaves behind a 4-year-old daughter and was engaged to be married, according to a GoFundMe page created to support her family.

The fundraiser aims to cover funeral expenses, therapy costs, and medical bills for Jocelyn’s parents, who are recovering from their injuries. A family member managing the GoFundMe wrote, “This horrific incident has left Jocelyn’s family, including her fiancé, older sister, and young daughter, in unbearable grief.”

The page also highlights the challenges ahead, stating, “Jocelyn’s little girl is now left without her mother, and her family is facing overwhelming challenges, including therapy costs, hospital bills, rehabilitation expenses, and essential living costs for her parents.”

Jimenez-Rico has been charged with two additional counts of first-degree attempted homicide for the injuries inflicted on his parents. The charges include modifiers for domestic abuse and the use of a dangerous weapon, as reported by Law & Crime.

A preliminary hearing for Jimenez-Rico is scheduled for February 6, with his bond set at $1 million. The community is rallying around Jocelyn’s family, offering support and donations to help them navigate the aftermath of this devastating tragedy.

As the family begins the long road to healing, the GoFundMe page urges compassion and generosity, stating, “Please join us in helping Jocelyn’s family find their footing as they begin the long road to healing. Your generosity, compassion, and support mean more than words can express.”
