In a tragic and shocking turn of events, a former software engineer, known for his employment at major tech companies like Meta (formerly Facebook) and Google, has been implicated in a disturbing murder-suicide case that has left a California community reeling with disbelief.

The grim discovery unfolded on Monday morning when the San Mateo police responded to a distressing call at a residence located between San Francisco and San Jose along the picturesque California coast. Upon arrival, authorities made a chilling find – the lifeless bodies of four individuals within the home.

Reports from local station KTVU indicated that there were no signs of forced entry at the Alameda de las Pulgas residence. The bodies of the engineer’s four-year-old twin boys were found without gunshot wounds, leading investigators to speculate on the possibility of suffocation, strangulation, or overdose as the cause of death.

Tragically, the engineer’s wife, identified as 38-year-old Alice Benzinger, was discovered fatally shot in the bathtub. Nearby, the engineer himself, 37-year-old Anand Sujith Henry, was found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, completing the grim tableau of the murder-suicide.

According to law enforcement sources cited by KTVU, Henry used a 9mm pistol, legally acquired months prior, to carry out the horrifying act. The discovery of the handgun and its magazine in the bathroom alongside the bodies further corroborated the tragic sequence of events.

The tragedy came to light after a concerned family member placed a 911 call, prompting authorities to conduct a welfare check on the residence. Details surrounding the motive for the heinous act remain unclear, with investigators characterizing the incident as isolated and assuring the public of no ongoing threat.

NBC Bay Area reported that while Henry had previously filed for divorce from Benzinger in 2016, no motive has been established for the fatal violence. Neighbors, stunned by the news, expressed disbelief, recalling the seemingly ordinary family often seen enjoying walks with their children in the neighborhood.

As the investigation continues, authorities are left grappling with the incomprehensible loss of four lives and the shattered peace of a community left in mourning.
