A disabled grandmother was fatally shot in her own home after masked assailants broke down her door and opened fire in what her grieving family believes was a case of mistaken identity.

Alice Fisher, 58, described as “warm and loving,” was gunned down in her brown recliner on Wednesday night in Dallas, Texas. The tragic incident occurred just hours after she had returned home from the hospital.

Surveillance footage from the Kingsbridge Crossing apartment complex showed several masked gunmen approaching her apartment shortly before the attack. At around 9 p.m., they forced entry and fired multiple rounds, killing her instantly. Evidence markers were later seen covering her chair, highlighting the brutality of the attack.

Alice’s niece, Velma Fisher, expressed her disbelief, saying, “She was disabled. She just came home from the hospital yesterday… Wasn’t even in her house comfortable, not what, 4-5 hours?”, according to Fox 4.

Another niece, Koquice Fisher, recounted that Alice was on the phone with her mother when the shooting began. “She let out a scream,” Koquice said, adding, “Thinking you’re safe in your home and something like this happens. Like, stop the senseless violence and killings for no reason. You took an innocent victim who was looking forward to her grandson. It’s sad.”

Speaking with CBS News, Koquice added, “I’m very angry. I’m just trying to keep my composure and be strong for my mother. But I’m angry that an innocent woman had to die. And I’m also angry that, even if it wasn’t my aunt, the person they were after didn’t deserve it as well.”

Alice’s daughter later shared her grief on Facebook, demanding justice for her mother. “This is my Mother, Alice Fisher, whose life was taken from her by complete ignorance and darkness—just plain evil. Me and my family want JUSTICE. She did not deserve this at all. I will forever be a part of you. There are NO goodbyes for us; you will ALWAYS be in my heart.”

The family strongly believes Alice was not the intended target, speculating that the masked attackers may have targeted the wrong apartment. Velma stated, “Wrong apartment. That’s what we’ve been hearing.” Koquice echoed, “Looking for someone else. It was like the wrong door. She didn’t deserve it.”

Alice’s murder has left her family and community in shock, with many calling for an end to the senseless violence. The investigation is ongoing, as law enforcement works to identify the perpetrators and provide answers for a family devastated by this tragedy.
