A tragic incident has left a nine-month-old baby boy orphaned after both his parents were fatally struck by an allegedly intoxicated driver. Jacob Hahn, 24, and Savannah Harding, 22, lost their lives in the crash when their car was hit from behind at high speed by a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Samantha Hammons. The impact caused their car to spin into the opposite lane, resulting in a collision with another car, according to WTVG.

The crash occurred on December 9 on Fremont Pike in Ohio. Court documents from the Perrysburg Municipal Court indicate that Hammons was allegedly under the influence and speeding at the time of the accident. In the car with Hammons were her two adult daughters, Asia and Heather, who fortunately sustained no injuries, while Hammons herself was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.

Hammons is now facing two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and is currently held in Wood County Jail with a bail of $500,000. In Ohio, aggravated vehicular homicide is a second-degree felony, carrying a mandatory prison sentence of two to eight years and a possible lifetime driving suspension, told WTOL 11.

Brooklyn Harding, Savannah’s sister, took to Facebook to express her grief, remembering the couple as “the sweetest souls” and vowing to seek justice. She promised to always be there for Beckett, the couple’s son.

Similarly, Jacob Hahn’s cousin, Brooke Johnson, shared her devastation and anger over the incident on social media. She lamented the fact that Beckett would never know his parents and the love they had for him.

Jacob and Savannah were set to marry next June, and their wedding photographer, Dale Marie, has pledged to photograph Beckett throughout his life as a tribute to the couple. This gesture serves as a poignant reminder of the young family’s tragic loss.
