A 23-year-old Texas woman, Tatyana Evans, has been charged with the murder of her boyfriend, Geovanni Montague, 28, after allegedly shooting him multiple times upon discovering text messages from another woman on his phone. The incident occurred in Houston, where Montague’s body was found on February 9 in the 10700 block of Barely Lane, near Jones Road, according to a statement from Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Montague, a decorated Army veteran and Amazon employee, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds outside his mother’s home, where he resided. Investigators reported that Evans and Montague had a tumultuous relationship, with the shooting “possibly [stemming] from jealousy,” Gonzalez stated on social media.
Surveillance footage allegedly captured Evans leaving the scene on the morning of February 9, coinciding with witness reports of gunshots in the area. During questioning, Evans reportedly confessed to the killing, police told local CBS affiliate KHOU. The confrontation reportedly began when Evans found text messages from another woman on Montague’s phone.
According to ABC 13, Evans had confronted Montague about the messages before the shooting. Montague’s mother described their relationship as “violent,” claiming Evans had “previously caused serious injury” to her son. In December 2024, Montague filed a police report over alleged threats made by Evans, though court records did not indicate if charges were filed.

During a court appearance, Evans was reprimanded by the judge after interrupting proceedings. “You claimed Mr. Montague grabbed at you, grabbed at your jacket … but you then shot Mr. Montague five or six times,” the judge said, per People.
Evans remains in custody with a bond set at $250,000. Her next court date is scheduled for April 3. The case has drawn attention to the tragic consequences of domestic violence, with Montague remembered as a dedicated serviceman and hardworking individual.
