Janice Combs, the mother of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, has spoken out in defense of her son, who is currently facing trial for sex trafficking, racketeering, and multiple sexual assault allegations. In a statement obtained by Page Six from her legal team, the Law Office of Natlie G. Figgers, Janice expressed her heartbreak over the situation.

“It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies,” she stated. “To bear witness to what seems to be a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words. Like every human being, my son deserves to have his day in court, to finally share his side, and to prove his innocence.”

Janice acknowledged that Diddy is not perfect, admitting that he has made mistakes. “I am not here to portray my son as perfect because he is not. He has made mistakes in his past, as we all have.” She also admitted that Diddy may not have been entirely truthful in certain situations, specifically mentioning an instance where he denied getting violent with an ex-girlfriend despite hotel surveillance showing otherwise.

She went on to explain why she believes Diddy chose to settle with his ex-girlfriend Cassie out of court in November 2023. “Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story, especially when that truth is outside the norm or is too complicated to be believed,” she said. She believes that Diddy’s legal team opted for a settlement as a strategic move, noting that this decision was later used by federal authorities to interpret it as an admission of guilt.

Janice also addressed the numerous allegations that have emerged since the lawsuits. “Not being entirely straightforward about one issue does not mean my son is guilty of the repulsive allegations and the grave charges leveled against him,” she asserted. She pointed out that many individuals have been wrongfully convicted in the past due to their mistakes or the perception that they do not fit society’s image of a “good person.”

She concluded by emphasizing that history has shown how people can be misjudged and wrongfully convicted based on their past actions, rather than the truth of the accusations.
