The orange craze is once again going to congregate masses for an enthralling 20th annual Queen’s Day Celebration, returning to Netherlands on Saturday, April 30, 2011.

The largest celebration of Queen’s Day is in Amsterdam, the Queen’s Night celebration in Hague and the Queen’s Dance in Rotterdam. Millions of roisterer head-to-toe will sink into festive orange craze for “Koninginnedag”, the official celebration of birthday of ‘Queen of the Netherlands’ known “oranjegekte” in Dutch where orange color stands to the name of Dutch royal family, the House of Orange-Nassau.

This Dutch royal occasion is a time for roisterer to take part in “vrijmarkts” or free markets, listening music, enjoying Queen’s Night, playing traditional Dutch games with their families, and to don in their best orange attires. There are orange colored foods, drinks, orange banners, orange dresses and accessories.

Recently, Koninginnedag is becoming more an open air party with many special events, concerts and celebration in public places that always attracts 500,000 to 800,000 visitors annually.

The Queen’s Day festival is a pure Dutch royal occasion being celebrated for over 100 years and is a symbol of national unity and togetherness in the Netherlands.
