Lauren Sanchez Shares Cryptic Message After Outfit Controversy

Lauren Sanchez, fiancée of Jeff Bezos, recently shared a reflective message about overcoming obstacles, just weeks after making headlines for her bold fashion choice at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, February 10, Sanchez posted a selfie from the cockpit of a helicopter—an aircraft she appeared to be piloting. Dressed in aviator gear, including a mic-fitted headset, off-white tank top, Chanel sunglasses, and a denim baseball cap, the Emmy-winning broadcaster gazed out the window as she took to the skies.

She paired the image with an introspective caption: “Some years start with turbulence, but that’s just the wind reminding you to spread your wings. Good to be back in the air… Here’s to flying farther than we ever imagined.” While she did not specify what “turbulence” she was referring to, her post follows criticism she faced over her outfit at Trump’s inauguration on January 20 in Washington, D.C.

Known for her daring fashion choices, Sanchez wore a white Alexander McQueen pantsuit paired with a lace bustier—an ensemble that drew sharp reactions online. While some fans supported her look, others deemed it inappropriate for the formal occasion.

Among her most vocal critics was former Fox News journalist Megyn Kelly. On The Megyn Kelly Show on Sirius XM, the conservative commentator dismissed Sanchez’s attire as “absurd” and suggested it detracted from the significance of the event.

“Have some dignity and some respect for your setting in your circumstances. No one should be talking about your t**s. Sorry,” Kelly said in a tirade that she later shared on Instagram. Though Sanchez did not directly respond, she seemingly addressed the backlash with a cryptic message on her Instagram Stories.

“People who feel good about themselves make other people feel good too. Turns out the opposite is also true. Remember that,” she wrote, as reported by The Spun. Beyond her high-profile engagements, Sanchez has long been passionate about aviation. In a 2024 interview with People, she shared how she pursued flying at the age of 40, inspired by her parents, who owned a flight school.

“I was always around aviation,” she recalled. “One day I told my dad, ‘I think I want to learn to fly.’ It may have been the best day of his life.” She quickly earned her pilot’s license and founded Black Ops Aviation, an aerial filming company. “It was an incredible experience because I think only three percent of helicopter pilots were women at the time.

Now I think it’s about six percent,” she said, adding that she hopes her journey will inspire more women to pursue aviation. Despite the ongoing scrutiny, Sanchez continues to soar—both literally and figuratively—choosing to rise above the noise as she follows her passions.
