Halle Berry Fires Back at Ex-Husband Eric Benet’s Shocking Sex Addiction Allegations
Halle Berry opened up about her past marriage to Eric Benét and the claims he made years ago about being a sex addict. Speaking candidly on the October 7 episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, the 58-year-old actress shared her thoughts on the matter, making it clear that she never fully accepted his explanation.
“I had one husband who said he was a sex addict,” Berry recalled during the interview. “But I don’t f–ing believe that s—.” Although she didn’t mention Benét by name, the reference was clear, as the singer-songwriter publicly entered rehab for sex addiction back in 2002.
Berry and Benét had tied the knot in 2001 after dating for two years. At the height of their relationship, Benét proudly supported Berry as she made history by winning an Academy Award. However, their marriage hit a rough patch when Berry discovered Benét’s infidelity, which led to his decision to seek treatment in rehab.
Despite their efforts to repair the relationship, the couple ultimately announced their separation in 2003. At the time, Berry issued a statement to Entertainment Weekly, saying, “Eric and I have had marital problems for some time now and have tried to work things out together. However, at this point, I feel we need time apart to reevaluate our union. We ask that you respect our privacy as we are going through this emotional time.”
Reflecting on the past, Berry’s remarks suggest that she never fully believed Benét’s claim of sex addiction as the reason for his behavior. Her candid take offers a glimpse into the emotional struggles she faced during that period and highlights the challenges of navigating personal turmoil in the public eye.
The actress has since moved on from her relationship with Benét, but her reflections on the podcast show that the experience left a lasting impact. By speaking out, she provides a perspective on the complexities of love, trust, and personal healing, even years after a relationship has ended.
