Travis Barker recently shared his reflections on embracing fatherhood for the third time. The Blink-182 drummer, who welcomed his son Rocky with Kourtney Kardashian last November, opened up about the life-changing experience in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.

The 48-year-old musician expressed his profound joy, stating, “It’s just as good as I remembered it. I love being a dad. That’s my favorite accomplishment, it’s my favorite thing I get to do every day.”

He added: “The most wonderful thing you could do at any time in your life is have a baby or bring a human being into this world.” Opening about his “crash course” in parenting, Barker said that parenthood inspired him to be healthy and look after himself.

Rehashing hysterics from the time when Shanna was pregnant with Landon, he shared: “The day I found out (then wife Shanna Moakler was pregnant with Landon), I left my house and I ran to the freeway.” Barker added: “It was four miles, and then I ran four miles back, too. I had this urge to just be the best version of myself, be healthy, and take care of myself more – and I think that’s never gone away.”

Barker also highlighted the unique aspects of becoming a stepdad. He spoke fondly of his 25-year-old stepdaughter, Atiana De La Hoya, from his previous relationship with Shanna Moakler. “Becoming a stepdad to Atiana was my first experience of fatherhood,” he shared. “It taught me a lot about love, patience, and the importance of being present.”

Reflecting on his growing family, Barker emphasized the joy and fulfillment that fatherhood brings him. “Every child is different, and each experience is unique,” he said. “Rocky has brought so much happiness into our lives, and seeing the bond between him and his siblings is incredibly special.”

Barker’s dedication to his family is evident in how he balances his professional and personal life. “Being a dad is my greatest achievement,” he reiterated. “It’s what I look forward to every day, whether it’s helping with homework, playing music together, or just spending quality time.” The drummer’s reflections offer a heartfelt glimpse into his journey as a father and stepfather, underscoring the deep love and commitment he has for his children and family.
