Halle Berry Gets Candid About Finding Happiness in Her Relationship with Singer Van Hunt
Halle Berry opened up about her relationship with musician Van Hunt, revealing why their four-year romance holds a special place in her heart. In a candid conversation on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast on Monday, October 7, Berry shared how this relationship has been different from any she’s experienced before.
“This is the longest relationship I’ve ever been in in my whole life,” Berry admitted. “I can’t get past three years. We celebrated when we hit four years like we had been married 20 years, that’s how big it was for me personally.” Berry, who is now 57, reflected on her past relationships and how her current bond with Hunt, 54, feels like a significant milestone.
Both Berry and Hunt initially approached the relationship with some apprehension. “We both were scared,” she confessed. “He was waiting for the shoe to drop, and I was waiting to drop the f—ing shoe. Because I just can’t get past that. It’s been such a relief, like, ‘OK, yes, I can do this relationship thing.’”
Praising Hunt as her “person,” Berry described the deep connection they share. “He’s calm and he’s what I’ve been dreaming of, searching for, needing,” she said, expressing a sense of fulfillment and contentment she hadn’t found before.
Berry also opened up about why her previous relationships ended after the three-year mark and why she believes things are different with Hunt. “There was something about it that felt wildly familiar, but I realized that I had just gotten into things for all the wrong reasons, and it always became clear to me what those wrong reasons were at about three years,” she shared with Shepard.
Reflecting on her journey, she explained, “But because I got into this thing with Van in a different way, that feeling never came because I didn’t get into it for the wrong reasons.” This realization, she noted, has made all the difference, allowing her to move past her previous relationship hurdles.
Berry’s insights offer a look into her personal growth and the evolving nature of her relationship with Hunt. After years of navigating love and heartbreak, she seems to have found a partnership that feels right and stands the test of time, breaking the pattern that once held her back.
