Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, whose story of surviving Munchausen by proxy inspired the acclaimed series The Act, recently shared why she has chosen to keep her newborn daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, off social media. The 33-year-old welcomed her first child with partner Ken Urker on December 28, 2024.
Blanchard addressed her decision in a heartfelt message on Instagram Stories after fans expressed curiosity about her sharing more glimpses of her baby.
“I will not be sharing photos of my baby on social media,” she wrote. “To everyone asking, No, I will not be posting pictures of Aurora. I understand everyone’s excitement, and we appreciate the support, but we value the privacy and safety of our daughter.”
The new mother emphasized the importance of safeguarding her child’s privacy while expressing gratitude for the ongoing support she and her family have received. “We continue to express love towards our supporters and thank you for following our journey,” Blanchard concluded with a red heart emoji.
Blanchard and Urker announced Aurora’s birth on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2025. Urker celebrated the milestone on Instagram by sharing a photo of Blanchard holding their newborn, captioning it, “Welcoming 2025 with the greatest gift of all [emoji].”
Blanchard, who became widely known for her harrowing story of abuse and subsequent legal battles, has largely kept her personal life private since her release from prison in 2023. Her decision to prioritize her daughter’s safety and privacy reflects her efforts to move forward while maintaining boundaries in the public eye.
