David and Victoria Beckham ‘submit a planning application to build a plush granny flat in the grounds of their £6million Cotswolds home’

The Beckhams have reportedly sent a planning application to build a granny flat in the grounds of their £6million Cotswolds country home. Documents lodged to the council on Friday show Victoria and David have grand plans to build a detached outhouse, according to The Sun.

The couple, who are currently residing at their country home during the lockdown, reportedly wants the separate building to become a place where their friends and family can stay. But far from this building being on the side of your house with a small kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, they’re going all out.

‘The fancy building is being built in the same materials as their main house and will have a swanky kitchen, bathroom and bedroom for guests.’ MailOnline has contacted David and Victoria’s representatives for comment.

The Beckhams are also reportedly amping up their security at their Cotswolds home by building a secret getaway tunnel. The plans come just weeks after footballer Dele Alli was robbed at knifepoint at his North London home and Robbie Williams spoke about his break-in fears.

According to planning documents obtained by the Express, the family are planning an underground link between their home and garage, as well as a wine cellar. David, 45, and Victoria, 46, have been spending lockdown in their Cotswolds home with three of their children, Romeo, 17, Cruz, 15, and Harper, eight.

Planning agents for the property said: ‘The proposed development includes a new basement cellar constructed beneath the extension to the existing garage outbuilding with a linked walkway. During their lockdown together, the family have been able to enjoy a wide variety of amenities at their stunning property, including a huge wooden framed hot tub which is placed a stone’s throw away from their sauna.

Elsewhere, the Beckham’s made delicious-looking pizzas in their stone pizza oven situated in their kitchen, which features dark painted cabinets and a wood-topped island situated in the middle of the room. The country feel of the home is aided by yellow stone walls and original hardwood flooring, while the rooms are made to feel cosy with plush soft furnishings and decorative rugs.
