Bobby Flay Reveals Bombshell Rejection by Kristin Cavallari After Bold DM Move
Celebrity chef Bobby Flay recently shared a fun and lighthearted story about his friendship with Kristin Cavallari, recalling a moment when he invited her out for dinner only to be politely turned down. Appearing on Cavallari’s Let’s Be Honest podcast, the 59-year-old Food Network star chatted about his latest cookbook, Chapter One before the conversation shifted to their personal rapport and his past attempt to connect over a meal.
Flay revealed that he had reached out to Cavallari, 37, in her DMs, suggesting they catch up over dinner while he was visiting Nashville. Although she declined, some podcast listeners urged her to reconsider. However, Flay was quick to set the record straight, playfully clarifying that there’s “no romantic future” between them. “I mean, there wasn’t really much there,” he shared with People, explaining that his intention was purely friendly.
“Kristin and I have been friends for a long time,” Flay said. “I called her and I was like, ‘I want to do your podcast. I think it’ll be fun.’” Reflecting on the podcast experience, he expressed appreciation for Cavallari’s energy and professionalism, noting that her show exposed him to a fresh audience beyond his usual food-focused crowd. “Unlike my typical interviews, which are really just basically based on food, this gave me the chance to connect with a different demographic,” he added.
Flay also spoke highly of Cavallari’s accomplishments, calling her “a baller” and expressing admiration for her as a businesswoman and mother of three. “She’s fun, she’s a mom, she’s got three kids, she runs her jewelry business, she runs her podcast business, she runs her whole Kristin Cavallari life—and she does it incredibly well,” he shared.
During the conversation, Flay recalled the dinner invitation mix-up with humor, explaining that he had once messaged Cavallari to meet up while he was in town. “I DMed you and I said, ‘I’m going to be in Nashville for one night, can I take you to dinner?’” Flay recounted. “And you literally said something to me like, ‘I’m already dating somebody.’”
Cavallari admitted she’d misunderstood his intentions, initially interpreting the invitation as a romantic gesture. “I think the ‘take you to dinner’ part made it seem like a date,” she said. Flay playfully corrected her, emphasizing that he was simply interested in catching up as friends. “No, you said, ‘I’ve already started seeing somebody’! And I said, ‘I just want to go to dinner with you,’” he replied, laughing.
Ultimately, Cavallari laughed off the misunderstanding, calling it a “foot-in-mouth” moment and agreeing she might have misinterpreted the invitation. Their exchange highlighted the camaraderie and respect between the two, with Flay’s podcast appearance providing both of them an opportunity to showcase their friendship in a fun and genuine way.
With his appreciation for Cavallari’s entrepreneurial spirit and her playful acknowledgment of the “mix-up,” Flay’s story underscored their warm friendship, built on mutual admiration and lighthearted humor.
