As Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s eight-year-long divorce nears its final stages, new accusations are surfacing regarding their bitter legal battle. A source close to Pitt has accused Jolie of “punishing” her ex-husband with the 2021 sale of the Château Miraval winery, despite an agreement that neither of them would sell the property without mutual consent.

The source told People Magazine, “Brad built an extraordinary, increasingly valuable business and she chose to deliberately disregard their agreement.” This remark comes in response to recent claims by Jolie’s attorney, James Simon of Hersh Mannis, who asserted that the actress “will continue to stand up to” her ex-husband, with hopes that Pitt would “stop attacking her.”

The insider also pointed to a pattern of behavior they believe has caused ongoing damage: “Sadly, the other side has consistently engaged in similar one-sided attacks for the past eight years, including a never-ending distortion of facts and projecting their own behavior onto others, causing tremendous collateral damage to those in and around the family.”

Specifically, the source referenced Jolie’s move with the French winery, which remains a point of contention in their divorce proceedings. The tensions were further highlighted by the ongoing legal battle over the sale of Château Miraval. In 2022, Pitt filed a lawsuit alleging that Jolie sold her stake in the winery without his approval, in violation of their prior agreement.

The case took a significant turn in November 2023 when Pitt won a legal victory, with Jolie’s motions to dismiss the lawsuit being rejected. This ruling lent support to Pitt’s claims, suggesting there was indeed a written agreement about the sale.

A separate insider close to Pitt elaborated on the situation, claiming that Jolie “chose to sell to a total stranger not aligned with the company’s vision so she could take the money for herself and punish him,” instead of negotiating a buyout that would keep the winery within the family.

Pitt and Jolie, who share six children — Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 16 — separated in 2016 after 12 years together and two years of marriage. While both parties have been seeking closure, the winery lawsuit remains a major sticking point, preventing the family from finding the peace they desire.
