Blake Lively has found herself at the center of controversy after reportedly cutting ties with one of the world’s highest-grossing film composers just months before the release of It Ends With Us. According to DailyMail, Justin Baldoni had originally hired celebrated musician Brian Tyler to compose the score for the upcoming film adaptation.
However, reports suggest that Lively, who took creative control, abruptly replaced him with Rob Simonsen and Duncan Blickenstaff—both of whom had previously collaborated with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, on Deadpool.

The decision to remove the 52-year-old BAFTA and Emmy Award nominee came as a shock, especially since Tyler had reportedly completed most of the score under Baldoni’s creative direction. A source revealed, “When Blake took over the film, Brian had already finished a majority, if not all, the score, based on what Justin wanted creatively for the film.
“Blake didn’t even listen to his score. She knew that she wanted to bring on Rob and Duncan.” Baldoni had initially approached Tyler to work on the Colleen Hoover adaptation after their successful collaboration on 2019’s Five Feet Apart.

However, after Lively made the decision to remove Tyler from the project, both Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath had to break the news to him. The insider further shared, “Jamey and Justin fought this, obviously, but when it became clear that there was nothing they could do, they called Brian and told him that he was being let go.

Brian was paid out his contract in full. “He shared his concern at the time that he did not want it to be known that he was fired. He had never been fired in his life and wanted this to be super confidential.” Tyler, a veteran composer with an illustrious career, ranks among the top 10 highest-grossing film composers of all time.
His films have collectively earned an estimated $14.9 billion worldwide. As the controversy unfolds, Lively’s decision to remove Tyler has sparked discussions in Hollywood about artistic control and creative differences in high-profile productions.
