Alice in Wonderland

We begin our movie reviews with one of the latest movie releases to hit the big screen which is a Tim Burton directed remake of an old classic Lewis Carroll tale. In this movie, Nineteen-year-old Alice (Mia Wasikowska) is attending a party at a lavish country estate when she sees a white rabbit with a pocket watch dart into the bushes. Curious, she follows the rabbit to an enormous tree, and tumbles down a hole that takes her to Underland (Wonderland). In this movie, Wonderland is a colorful, eye-catching universe where every part of the screen is bursting with an array of computer-generated distractions. Sometimes, in movies when you put visuals before the story, you end up losing the story and perhaps that was the case in this movie. A typical tale of good versus evil but this movie could have been darker and more plot twists, with less focus on graphics could have saved the story from being the run of the mill, moral-filled tale.
