After Donald Trump lost the 2020 election, he and Melania Trump settled into life at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. However, rumors have persisted that their marriage may be on the rocks. While the inner workings of any marriage are largely private, recent signs suggest that Melania could be making a significant move soon—possibly tied to Barron Trump’s college plans.
On August 27, 2024, Melania posted a bird’s-eye view photo of New York City on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption: “New York City captivated my heart the moment I arrived, 28 years ago today. This electrifying town isn’t just my home; it’s a colorful canvas where dreams come alive. New York’s iconic skyline and vibrant culture inspire me every day.”
The post has sparked speculation that the former first lady might be preparing to leave Florida and return to the Big Apple. While Melania didn’t explicitly mention moving, the timing of her post, combined with Barron Trump’s college plans, has led many to wonder if she is planning to relocate.
In 2024, Barron Trump graduated from a high school in West Palm Beach, Florida, while living with his parents at Mar-a-Lago. Although it’s unclear where Barron will be attending college, Donald Trump confirmed to the New York Post that his son will be studying in New York. Given the close relationship between Melania and Barron, this revelation has fueled speculation that Melania might move back to New York to be closer to her son.
“Melania’s main job is taking care of Barron, and I think it’s possible that she will follow him wherever he goes to school,” a source told People in March 2024. “Melania is all about Barron and her family. She has always been family-oriented, and in addition to some of the charity work she has done, staying ahead of family issues is her priority.”
If Melania does return to New York City, she has several options for where to live. In 2016, she purchased a one-bedroom apartment in Trump Tower. There’s also the massive penthouse where she, Donald, and Barron lived together before Donald was elected president. Which of these properties Melania might choose remains unknown, and given her preference for privacy, we may not find out until she’s ready to share.
For now, the public is left to wonder whether Melania’s cryptic post signals the beginning of a new chapter in her life, one that could see her leaving Mar-a-Lago behind to return to the city that first captured her heart.
