Fisher shared this experience in an interview with Just Jared, explaining the unique approach taken in the film’s production.

During one particular scene, Fisher was supposed to kiss Depp’s character. Unfortunately, she had to opt-out at the last moment due to a bad cold. Reflecting on her decision, Fisher expressed her regret to FandomWire, saying, “Afterwards I was like, ‘What was I thinking? It’s Johnny Depp.’ Maybe I should have just gotten the kiss and given him the germs.” Her decision, though prudent, was a missed chance to add a personal memory with one of Hollywood’s renowned actors.

Fisher’s hesitance was not just about missing a kiss with Depp but also highlights her professional integrity, prioritizing her co-star’s health over a potential headline-making moment. This level of consideration is significant, given Depp’s own reservations about on-screen kissing, which he has openly discussed as being uncomfortable.

Depp’s discomfort with intimate scenes was notably mentioned regarding his role as Jack Sparrow in the 2006 film “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest,” alongside Keira Knightley, who was a minor at the time of filming. Depp recounted the awkwardness of their kissing scene, especially since he had known Knightley since she was 17. He told the press, “Any kind of scene like that, whenever you’re doing that sort of thing, it’s always unbelievably awkward, especially having met Keira when she was 17 years old.”
