Despite stepping back from his senior royal duties almost a year and a half ago—and literally moving to a different country—Prince Harry is still struggling with the paparazzi following his immediate family around. Harry and Meghan Markle have been trying their best to keep a low profile, but photographers have been able to catch them at some of their most intimate moments…like when Meghan dropped off their son Archie Harrison for his first day of school.
Harry discussed how seeing the paparazzi photos of his son (which were taken back in April and published by Page Six) made him feel in his recent appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast. “Page Six of the New York Post, they took photos of my son being picked up from school on his first day,” Harry said, adding that paparazzi culture is “this sort of rabid feeding frenzy…kids don’t get a choice; they don’t get a say in it.” 😞
Harry also went into detail about how aggressively he and Meghan were chased by paparazzi while they were briefly living in Los Angeles. “We spent the first three and a half months living at [friend] Tyler Perry’s house,” Harry said. “The helicopters, the drones, the paparazzi cutting the fence, like, it was madness. And people out there, their response was ‘what do you expect if you live in L.A.?'”
“First of all, we didn’t mean to live in L.A. This is a staging area to try and find a house. And secondly, how sad that if you live in L.A. and you’re a well known figure you just have to expect it,” he added.
Thankfully, Harry said that dealing with paparazzi has been “way better” after his family packed up and moved to their current home in Montecito.
