Trump Golfs for Five Days Straight While His Administration Cracks Down on Remote Workers

President Donald Trump has spent five consecutive days golfing in South Florida while his administration continues a sweeping purge of federal employees and enforces terminations under its strict return-to-office policy, The Daily Beast reported on Wednesday.

“While his DOGE henchmen have been busy firing all those lazy federal workers, the president dialed it in for a fifth straight day from one of his golf clubs in South Florida,” wrote Mary Ann Akers. “He golfed on Wednesday at his Doral golf club in Miami after spending four days at his private Mar-a-Lago resort and home over an extended President’s Day holiday that allowed him to up his game before his scheduled return to the White House Wednesday night. His MAGA supporters cheered him on.”

Trump, along with his close ally and tech billionaire Elon Musk, has introduced a “deferred resignation” package for any federal worker unwilling to comply with the new policy mandating in-person office work. Ironically, Trump has frequently cited golf as an activity he believes remote employees are engaging in rather than working, told Forbes.

“There’s a whole big, oh, you can work from home,” Trump said when signing the executive order requiring a return to office. “Nobody’s going to work from home. They’re going to be going out. They’re going to play tennis. They’re going to play golf. They’re going to do a lot of things. They’re not working.”

Trump’s stance mirrors a trend in the private sector, where major corporations are rolling back remote work policies and flexible hours, even those that predated the COVID-19 pandemic. While companies argue these measures protect productivity, some studies suggest that restricting employees’ work location options may actually decrease overall efficiency.

Trump frequently plays golf at his own properties, which has raised concerns about potential financial benefits to his business empire. Recently, he held discussions about expediting the controversial merger between the PGA Tour and Saudi-backed LIV Golf—an entity that has frequently hosted events at Trump-owned golf resorts.
