LOS ANGELES – Rumer Willis reassured fans about her father Bruce Willis’ condition during an appearance on ITV’s Loose Women on Monday, February 3. The Die Hard star, who retired from acting due to frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, continues to receive unwavering support from his family.
“He’s doing great,” Rumer told viewers, offering a comforting update on her father’s health, as reported by HELLO! Magazine. The 36-year-old actress also spoke about the challenges her family has faced in recent months, particularly as wildfires continue to threaten California.
“I think, obviously, as many people in California, the thing we’re all kind of the most scared [about] and dealing with is just fires and wanting to make sure everything is okay,” she said. During the interview, Rumer, the eldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, reflected on the strong bond within her family and how they have remained close despite difficult circumstances.
“My family, we’re all so close,” she shared with panelists Kaye Adams and Judi Love. “I think what’s so beautiful is the way that we rally around each other. [It’s] so lovely because we really are a unit.” She also praised her parents for maintaining a respectful and loving co-parenting relationship even after their divorce.
“I think the thing I’m most grateful for is that even when they split up, they created such a beautiful foundation of prioritizing my sisters and me, that I never felt like I had to choose. They never played against each other. We were a family, and we still are very much a family no matter what,” she said.
Bruce Willis and The Substance actress Demi Moore were married from 1987 to 2000 and share three daughters: Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 31. Rumer also discussed how her upbringing has influenced her own approach to parenting her daughter, Louetta, whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas.
“Not only did I feel like that has set me up in my life to have such a beautiful foundation of my own family, but now, as I’m working through co-parenting as well, I feel deep gratitude for the example they’ve set,” she said.
Reflecting on growing up in the public eye, Rumer acknowledged the difficulties of facing scrutiny during her formative years.“Growing up especially, it was the rise of the internet. It was the rise of a lot of celebrity bloggers kind of tearing people down, and you know, having to go through an awkward phase in the public eye as you’re still discovering yourself—it’s definitely challenging. It taught me a lot,” she admitted.
Rumer’s update on her father comes amid reports that Bruce Willis’ health is declining. A source told Express.co.uk that while “he’s not the same anymore,” his “spirit is still there.” “He’s being brave, but life is also scary for him at times,” the insider revealed. “The public doesn’t see the dark side of his illness. Fortunately, he has his family to support him through what they’ve come to accept as his final chapter.”
