“They Are the Most Selfless People”: Mandy Moore finds safe haven at Hilary Duff’s residence after LA fires

Mandy Moore and her family found an unexpected haven with Hilary Duff and her husband, Matthew Koma, after being forced to evacuate their Los Angeles home due to the devastating Eaton Fire.
The 40-year-old This Is Us actress, her 39-year-old husband Taylor Goldsmith, and their three children—Gus, 3, Oscar, 2, and their three-month-old infant—sought refuge with Duff and Koma after their Altadena home and much of their neighborhood was impacted by the wildfire, reported Billboard.
Griffin Goldsmith, Taylor’s brother and fellow musician, shared his heartfelt gratitude in an Instagram post on January 13, revealing the depth of Duff and Koma’s generosity. “They’ve taken care of my entire family from the moment this began,” he wrote.
Griffin, 34, described the couple’s actions as “the kindest act one human could do for another,” adding, “They are the most beautiful, selfless people we’ve ever known.”
The Dawes band member also revealed the extent of the fire’s damage to their neighborhood, including his own family’s properties. “The fires have devastated our home and much of our community,” Griffin shared, adding that he had encouraged his parents to move to Altadena, a decision he now regrets as their house was also affected.
In the wake of the tragedy, Duff and Koma suggested starting a GoFundMe to aid in the recovery efforts, an idea Griffin took to heart. However, when Moore shared the fundraiser on her Instagram, it sparked backlash from some followers.
The criticism led Moore to respond directly, telling detractors to “F*** off.” Despite the negativity, Moore has continued to focus on supporting her family through this challenging time.
The act of kindness from Duff and Koma underscores the importance of community in times of crisis. As Griffin noted, their hospitality and selflessness have made a profound difference for the Goldsmith family during this difficult period.
