Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Finalize Divorce After Two Years of Marriage

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are officially divorced, just under five months after Lopez filed for divorce on August 20. The split comes two years after the couple celebrated their Georgia ceremony on the same date in 2022, following their Las Vegas wedding a month earlier.
Lopez, 55, filed at the Los Angeles County Superior Court without legal representation, requesting no spousal support for either party and proposing that attorney’s fees be divided. In her filing, she noted that the “exact nature” of their shared and separate assets and obligations is “unknown” and “will be determined.”
Speculation about trouble in their relationship began in May when the couple was not seen together for weeks following a sighting in New York City on March 30. During this time, Lopez attended events solo, including the promotion of her film Atlas and the Met Gala, reported People.
The pair reunited only for family occasions, such as the graduation of Affleck’s daughter Violet, 18, whom he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, along with Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12. Lopez appeared to spend time apart before officially filing, embarking on a European getaway and celebrating her birthday without Affleck.
Her first public appearance after filing was on September 6 at the premiere of Unstoppable, which Affleck, despite being a co-producer, did not attend. Affleck was busy working on The Accountant 2 in Los Angeles during much of the split.
The couple reunited briefly for family moments, including a lunch with their children at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge on September 16, just weeks after the filing.
Lopez and Affleck’s relationship has a long history, starting in July 2002 when they began dating. They became engaged in November of that year but ultimately parted ways in 2004. The two rekindled their romance in 2021, marrying the following year. Lopez shares twins Max and Emme, 16, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
While their whirlwind rekindling captivated fans, the official end of their marriage marks the close of yet another chapter in their decades-long saga, leaving their blended families to navigate this new phase.
