Corey Lewandowski, a senior adviser to President-elect Donald Trump, defended Trump’s controversial ambition to acquire Greenland by emphasizing his boss’s prowess as a “real estate master.” During a Monday interview on Newsmax, Lewandowski discussed Trump’s bold expansionist visions for his upcoming administration, including Greenland and the Panama Canal.

Newsmax host Logan Ratick questioned Lewandowski about Trump’s recent comments on reclaiming the Panama Canal. Lewandowski responded, “Yeah, once again, this is President Trump focused on America first. We sold it for a dollar, which was just the most ridiculous thing that anybody has ever seen.”

Lewandowski elaborated on Trump’s broader strategy: “It’s time to make sure that our independence and our dominance on the world stage is back in play. He’s talking about maybe Greenland from a historical perspective coming as part of the United States, and taking back the Panama Canal so that China doesn’t have its influence there. This is a president who is making outside-the-box announcements to put the world on notice that, once again, the United States is the dominant world superpower.”

Host Emma Rechenberg pressed Lewandowski for more specifics on the Greenland proposal, noting its status as an autonomous territory under Danish sovereignty. “Why would he want this, Corey?” she asked.

Lewandowski defended Trump’s vision, stating, “Donald Trump is a real estate master, and he understands the historical and the strategic, more importantly, significance of Greenland. There is a very important strategic value to the United States having control of this.”

He continued, “By the way, we have not expanded our country in 70 years. So, look, Donald Trump is, again, thinking outside the box. How do we have a lasting impact on the world stage? What does his legacy look like?”

Lewandowski framed Trump’s ambitions as part of a broader effort to cement the United States’ global dominance. “This is someone who has a vision for America’s greatness long after he has left the White House, and this is just part of that,” he concluded.

While Trump’s ideas have sparked controversy, they align with his pattern of disruptive and unconventional policies. Whether these proposals gain traction or remain symbolic of his unique approach to leadership, they continue to stir debate about America’s role on the global stage under his administration.
