Whoopi Goldberg recently opened up about her financial reality, admitting that despite her long-standing career and fame, she “can’t afford” to stop working. During a recent episode of The View, the 69-year-old actress shared her thoughts on financial challenges, saying that if she “had all the money in the world,” she wouldn’t still be hosting the ABC talk show she joined back in 2007.

Goldberg candidly expressed, “I appreciate that people are having a hard time. Me, too. I work for a living.” She clarified that her ongoing presence on the show is driven by necessity, explaining, “If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here, okay? So, I’m a working person, you know?”

Reflecting on her responsibilities, she continued, “My kid has to feed her family. My great-granddaughter has to be fed by her family. I know it’s hard out there.” Goldberg’s remarks highlight her dedication not only to her own livelihood but also to her family’s well-being, reminding viewers that even well-known public figures have financial commitments and obligations, reports The Independent.

In a broader context, Goldberg also addressed a recent move by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, expressing admiration for her stance on certain issues. “I love what she did. Yay,” she said, noting the importance of addressing public concerns while ensuring that solutions don’t put the majority at risk. “We talk to people all the time who say, ‘This is what’s bothering me.’

But the thing that’s bothering everybody should not be the thing that puts 85 percent of other people in danger. I think that’s what we’re saying,” Goldberg elaborated, referencing the balance between advocating for change and safeguarding the interests of the broader public.

Through her comments, Goldberg reminds audiences of the real-life pressures that impact even high-profile personalities. Her reflections on the financial necessity of continuing her work and her concern for family responsibilities resonate with many, grounding her celebrity in the shared struggles of everyday life. For Goldberg, The View is not only a platform for important discussions but also a practical way to support her family, underscoring that she, too, faces the realities of economic pressures.
